Hey Guys,

This was an very awesome second year of our animation blog – Bramhaa. We got to learn lot of things from great animators, also some special things happen all this year  & you can see this was a year of animation students.

As every animation student knows – this industry is very small & large volumes of passionate aspiring animators are coming from across the world every year. There were very few channels for students to learn the real fun in animation & join some great studios.

The ultimate goal of our team for Bramhaa was to compensate this gap by some extent. We shared some great articles on story writing for animators, try to bring new dimension for approaching animation, shared some of our experiences so that you don’t have to  struggle much in your animation industry.

We shared hundreds of  News, Webinars, Tutorials, Blogs, Videos & Forums on our New Facebook  Fan Page launched last year. We have got awesome response from our  300 fans for what ever they found valuable out of our posts. And we are proud to say that Bramhaa has the only page for animation students on Facebook – who shares very very valuable aniamtion stuff at one place. And sure it was great decision by our team to take this FB initiative.

What makes Bramhaa very special is its exclusivity of literature for students in Animation industry. We have analysed awesome Animation movies for explaining how stuff works in story writing & visual structure in any Animation movie. We have also published some drawing tutorials from Mitali and we are very thankful of her too.

We have also published our first ever Exclusive Interview with an DreamWorks Animator- Alexis Wanneroy, where he have explained some of his work & student life experiences. On this occasion we would like to express our thanks to him & it was great pleasure for our team & audience to read about you & your guidance.

Our Facebook Page has also completed its first birthday 3 days before on 22nd of December 2010. Following is its statistics form last year.

When you are part of social networking sites , you become part of media. And you must be aware that what is your opinion you put out there in discussions , walls or threads, articles it definitely affects majority of people. At this moment you might be thinking that’s not true but it is!

If you don’t read all article that’s okay , I want to encourage you to always remember the following things while blogging , posting ..

“Generalizations are really worst things to promote!!”

And “Even most worst things are when generalizations you are promoting something like Hate , Anti, negative something!!”

I call it “concept of 100”

See most of the times we don’t know more than 100 people closely or personally around us , and we jump in there and just from one or two or may be 5 incidences we create belief or generalization about entire mankind!

Same thing about X, we have few experiences about X and we make that opinion for all alphabets in all languages present in the world.

One thing we must learn is to be specific because that is only thing we can evaluate.

You know why we generalize because if we start noticing every specific thing we will be freaking out inside. So we make small map and we think that’s whole world.

There is famous saying that we all must remember Map is not Territory!!

What we are seeing is not actual truth, its RE-Presentation we have done in our mind it might be totally wrong (awesome concept I learned from Tony)

See if you have to generalize , Generalize in Positive way at least you will be in good state and able to keep all around you in good state too.

Sometimes we heard that News media is being negative and creating fear in minds of people.

Guess what? you are part of that media, specially you are connected to all world , your blog or pages or communities are seen by people from all over the world. You don’t realize but you indirectly creating opinion in minds of people!!

See we made decision that on our Page on Facebook we won’t write news like some studio is shutting down or something like that.

You may say that’s wrong,you are stupid , world must know about the people in studio, what if you are part of that studio?

If you see this way , I hope it may create some difference. Every career has its challenges and everybody has to overcome them.

Most of the times , beginners like me read so much on net about industry in order to get certainty that every thing is going to be awesome. If somebody who has great amount of talent and skill , and on the edge , being back and forth should I do career or not , seeing news like this at two or more places not just of shutting the studio , but all the anti, or hate Communities or groups , pages. There are more chances that he may back out and the animation community will lose awesome talent in that moment.

See things like this create fear in the minds of beginners who have just able to gain some kind of certainty about career in Animation, about Institutes, about Studios

Always be careful while joining communities, groups, pages , you might be joining 100’s groups and they reflect what you are , as person.

How “constructive” you are ? Which kind of environment you will create ? how will you act as Team Player ? How much respect you have for mankind ? How much you appreciate Constructive effort of somebody?

Those communities are reflection of you and what you think , partially they represent you!!

I have question, in real life if you don’t like something , do you carry the photo or information of that something in your pocket ?? I guess , nobody carries those things …

Then don’t you think, while joining hate , anti communities of those in your profile. Indirectly you are promoting, in fact it has become part of your profile!!

I’m no one to tell you that what you must do. Still we should realize as an artist we have great responsibilities, specially while directing the focus of those who are beginning their career or thinking of beginning their career.

The responsibility is even bigger when you are creating a Group , community ,page . If you create Anti or Hate community , and 1000 people join that. You are promoting that thing , you may call it as negative publicity now those who never knew about that thing they will also see what’s that is that 1000 people are promoting.

You might say its truth , and somebody might do something about it , everybody must know about it then do it in constructive way.

Like Mother Teresa Once said , “I will never attend any Anti War rally , if you are arranging Peace rally , make sure to invite me” (words might not be exact but essence is the same)

Learning to appreciate is one the greatest thing we can learn as human being and specially as an artist. We are artists , we must be constructive in our way. We must know the importance and responsibility of CREATING!!

I learned a year ago , that we must do things

Which Feel Good , Good for Us and Good for others!!

While creating communities and groups we must keep ideal Example of “TED” in front of us, that’s like one of the best organization which appreciate and share the great talents in constructive way.

Without internet and social networking sites it was impossible to imagine that we as part of whole world, but not now we can literally feel that WE are Global citizens. No matter what, we finally belong to human race!

Promoting Good never hurts somebody, as we focus on Good in environment we feel rich, grateful, encouraged, creative, constructive!!

And we need to be smart enough to realize that what we are putting in , because in IT Engineering we have a Concept

GIGO – Garbage in Garbage Out

What you are going to put into the system, that’s what going to reflect in Outcome.

I have belief that the percentage of Good things, Good people are way more than Bad things , though if sometimes it may seem at first, reverse; we have got to focus on good things.

Within last year and untill now I was really fortunate enough to get guidance from many great guys from great studios, they were so encouraging , inspiring ,specific, appreciating that I realized that these are our ideals , they are so awesome that someday I must have to be like them.

As long as we know that while using social networking sites, we are artists and we have got to be constructive, encouraging, inspring, specific, promoting good in our way and we have ability to direct focus of masses, we have managed to use social networking media in way all the creators of Social networking media have thought while creating all these cool media!!

I hope that some of you definitely going to think about this while posting, blogging, creating new groups, joining groups, promoting, replying to somebody! Even just take a look at your all joined communities, you might want to rethink about them..

Some of you might want to share this concept of responsibilities and constructive of approaching to your friends ..

Next time you find your self in state of Hate , ask this question

At least What can I appreciate about her/him/them/it ? or what two things I can appreciate about ? At first you will come up with answer “Nothing”, but if you really think about the question

You will definitely find the constructive answers and do not judge somebody by their behaviors . Sometimes we too get judged by others because of our behavior but we know the truth.

Sometimes its state, mood, focus, situation, rough day that decides behavior for that moment not for the rest of the life .. I hope you got the point ..

There was a kid , from middle class family

Who used to like scribble with pencil, he loved the comic strip books so much .. when he was  7-8 years he saw “Mickey mouse” .. and the seeds of passion for Animation began to grow ..

At 11 years old , he saw the “Jungle book” , it was the most beautiful thing he’d ever seen ..  and decided to be an Animator ..

He decided to write a letter to Walt Disney Studio, asking how to be an Animator , and what are important skills ..

And Amazing thing happened , He GOT THE REPLY from Studio…

It had information about what it means to be an Artist

The day, he realized the exact meaning of all the things they had describe in reply.

He committed to his passion. He committed to his dream to be in Disney Studio.

He worked extremely hard , to give his best shot for Disney Studio. He made his own way so  that he will be in Disney Studio..

He believed whatever he is doing , if he kept improving and adapting , this way definitely take him to Disney Studio ..

And you know , if  you have great  passion for something , and you are working really hard for it , amazing things will happen on the way!!

As the saying  ,“Ask and You shall receive”

And finally he made it , he prepared himself to the standard that he will be in His Dream Studio .. Walt Disney Animation Studio

And he is one of the awesome animators from Disney Studio .. He had a great passion , such great passion that he Got The MENTORING from “Disney’s Nine Old Men”, when he joined the Studio!!

He is the example which shows,

“If  you are immensely passionate about your dream , you will definitely make that happen”

His name is the great animator “Andreas Deja”

Deja is best known as the supervising animator of some of the most memorable Disney villains: Gaston from Beauty and the Beast, Jafar in Aladdin and Scar from The Lion King. He also animated Roger Rabbit from Who Framed Roger Rabbit, King Triton from The Little Mermaid, the title character from Hercules, Lilo from Lilo & Stitch, and Queen Narissa from Enchanted. I still remember , the day I was talking to Amol , I love to write , but I was afraid , I mean what I was gonna write on blog .. An Animation Blog !!!

I was asking Amol , “Do you really think , I’m really ready to write on blog and stuff ?”

Amol had really worked hard to create the web design and all .  Me and Kiran were just not ready . Amol was encouraging, “Come on , guys at least give me one article so that I can start working further”

I said , “You know we are the guys who are passionate about Animation , we do some kind a stuff in Flash , but we really dont know what  exactly professional animators do?

But We are one step further than the guys who loves Animated Movies and Special effects that’s for sure. But we will need to study from masters and then create something and then share the experience ”

I was laughing “ You know what Job we can do in Animation Field perfectly , the guys who sit at HELP DESKS OF ANIMATION INSTITUTE , and helping others that why they should do animation ? how they can start on their own ? how to find skills ? why animation is so awesome.. the guys are at helps desks ha ha ”

And Amol said “Lets do that , Lets do the JOB ON Bramhaa …”

That’s it we share solutions of all the challenges we had faced since we were just kids , watching Dexter , Alladin on Cartoon Channels trading  with mom that will study two more hours and clean the room and wondering how  we can do this ? How can we create Dexter ,Alladin , Spiderman … ?

I still remember the evening when me and Amol went to an institute for inquiry about Animation as Career.. We were so excited like there are schools that teach Animation. THERE ARE SCHOOLS that teach animation!!!

From the day (when we were in 7^th class) we made our first animation in Power Point  we thought we are gonna learn Animation on our own. That’s what we were training our mind for almost 4-5 years. Finding books to learn Animation.

When we went in that institute,  Boy they shown all the things people do; showing movies and trailers trying to impress but we were so naïve to understand to all that , we didn’t know what to ask for . .

We also learned that they were teaching Softwares and NOT ANIMATION..

We are just sharing all our journey with you , In one whole year We have learned from Masters all the awesome stuff ,through books, interviews, articles.

Small things that make big difference  …

A small story for all of you ,

Normally I don’t like to go weddings and stuff , so I always find some reason to escape , cause you walk in there , some  uncle comes by and says , “Oh what you doing with your life , my son has got job in … and I think there is recession affecting IT engineers  ..” my god he  gets a big shock when  I tell  him that I’m studying Animation, after my degree.

And he will be like , “Animation , really Animation!!! and you have to study Animation , I mean Study ?? I thought its just computer and softwares .. and how much you will get paid more than your engineering ??”

Like always I end up convincing those uncles and aunts that Animation is more than software ,  I end up convincing them it needs an incredible awesome skills and passion.

Its study until the end of my life!!!

And uncle changes the topic , telling the story of another wedding where food was not that good …

That day mom convinced me to attend the wedding   , I was in corner , and my mom called me , I met my Grandma’s sister , she’s almost 70 years old , she looked at me , she had seen me 8-9 years ago , when I was kid. (I’m still a kid )

she said “Oh look at you, you have grown so much , you were small kid last time I saw you , time really flies away fast ..” and she was in tears , I was cold and really didn’t know what to say.

I realized that we are so emotional species , we feel incredible, deep within heart seeing things grow..

My mentor Tony Robbins says that there are “Six human needs” (on emotional level) , Certainty, Uncertainty, Significance, Love-connection

We will figure out the way to meet these first four; smoke, drink , do whatever

but the last two are most essential needs and that are Growth and Contribute beyond our selves ..

If business is not Growing , if relation ship is not growing , If skills are not growing no matter how much money we make , we don t feel like fulfilled within our heart ..

I just want to say thanks to all you guys as seeing  Bramhaa so much grown and through Bramhaa ,

We are able to fulfill our last two needs ,we have got chance to grow and a chance to contribute , that’s really awesome gift from you …

Bramhaa is the outcome of THREE PASSIONATE KIDS (Amol, Kiran , Mahesh),who always wondered from Childhood what really make these things move , someday we gonaa make this and also we will share with all those guys who are just like us ..

You guys and we  all are on same journey… a journey  for PIXAR!!!

I’m sharing an experience here in this post

Hi … have u witnessed an incredible moment , a moment where you feel like that every pulse in your heart is telling you , “this is it , this is the moment , this is what I want even hundreds time miraculous than what I’m seeing , what I’m experiencing this is it !!”

I’m talking about the  24fps 2009 awards. For the first time in my entire life , this is the second best thing I’ve ever witnessed. May be you are thinking this guy is idiot , he was not even part of it , he has not even win a damn thing , he was as just viewer there and why do he think about this way ?

I tell you why , I saw great talent and skill there , when they were showing the student films on screen , it was beautiful , I mean it’s  something  that  guys have worked hard I mean really hard for 1 year , 1 whole year only one thing they are chasing , trying to bring the one vision into reality … that’s happening now on  screen … I wasn’t viewer there , I was trying to feel all those things , later I realized that  I was so lost in the moment that I forgot some stories  of films …

For every award when the guys were wining … believe me it was special , really special .. the joys of wining moment , the cheers , the claps , the smiles, raising the awards in air .. I was absorbing every thing in that moment

… I was feeling really passionate , seeing all these special and gifted guys and girls ,  I should have got some time to talk with them , I mean all 200 or more guys .   I just wanted to tell them that was an awesome experience!

You know sometimes its really easy to give comments or critic on  , but there are some times when you realize that something inside tells you , “ oh really , then just try doing a few seconds of it !!”  whole perspective changes ….

That’s why I’m not telling which was the best film , they all were best ..

At night when we were leaving  I was feeling like a small kid who wants to make all his stories in reality like all these guys , give the same experience to viewer like me ..

Some one was giving out small balloons, I got there and took one … When I was walking with balloon ..

In crowd a guy talking on phone , “ …it would have been really nice if we should have got at least one nomination.. at least one …”

I thought .. there should have been an appreciation of efforts for everybody .. then I thought , I’m thinking like a kid cause of balloon …

I asked my brother  will the balloon will go in sky if I leave it … he was talking but I have already left the balloon in sky …Like a wish …!!!!
